A typical day

We believe children thrive with a structured routine, where they can understand what will happen next. While no two days at pre-school are the same, this will give you an idea of what we do each day:

9am
Arrival and welcome
Children change into their indoor shoes in the changing room. Self-registration: children find their photo and stick it to the registration board.

9.05am
Choice of activities – on tables, planned to meet children’s developmental needs and their current interests.
Some focused 1:1 work with key person.

9.30am
Free play – in carpeted area and loft.
Continuation of table activities.

10.10am
Tidy up time – children are encouraged to help.

10.15am
Circle time – usually including phonics, a story and singing.

10.35am
Snack time – more information here.

11.00am
Outside play – free choice of activities to support children's learning and development including:

  • ride-on vehicles
  • mud, sand, water and gravel
  • balls and hoops
  • gardening
  • mark-making
  • role play

Some focused 1:1 work with key person.

11.55am
Tidy up time – children are encouraged to help.

12pm
Lunch time. Children not staying for lunch go home.

12.45pm
Choice of activities – in the carpeted area, or craft on a table.

1pm
End of morning session. Children not staying for the afternoon go home.

1.05pm
Free choice of activities – may be indoors or outside.
Some focused 1:1 work with key person.

2.25pm
Tidy up time – children are encouraged to help.

2.30pm
Snack time.

3pm
Further outdoor play. Some children go home at 3pm.

3.30pm
End of session. Remaining children go home.
